Walking

Chianciano Terme, with its strategic position, acts as a watershed between the Val d’Orcia – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004 – and the very fertile Val di Chiana. The nature surrounding its territory, at the intersection of large and small villages, constitutes a true heritage of humanity, traditions and artistic treasures. Exploring, riding on gravel roads, going into the trails is the best way to get to know every hidden corner of this paradise. Tuscan hills, changing colors all year round, breathtaking sunsets and the profile of Mount Amiata and Mount Cetona are just some of the ways through which to enjoy a unique land.

Chianciano Terme Blue Flag

Chianciano Terme became, with the official handover of the Blue Flag (Bandiera Azzurra) on October 12, 2019 by Olympic project creator Maurizio Damilano, “City of Running and Walking.” But what exactly is the Blue Flag? “Blue Flag” is an exclusive acknowledgement that the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) and the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) assign every year to at least eight Italian Municipalities capable of distinguishing themselves for their commitment to promoting the practice of running and of walking, and of health more generally, as tools for well-being and quality of life. And it was on the day the Blue Flag was awarded that both the new Fidal-certified green circuit within Fucoli Park and the “Water Walk” trail designed especially for diabetics were opened. The route has the aim of educating “citizens with diabetes” to take care of themselves, in fact the ‘functional’ signs along the way offer specific information to people suffering from diabetes, information that can help improve their living conditions and try to delay complications, those that affect national healthcare spending, within different pathways for each age. Not only diabetics can take this route but also normoglycemics, fellow citizens and tourists. Curious? You just have to try it!!!
