Bagno Vignoni

Bagno Vignoni is truly unique, in fact in no other location will you find a swimming pool, located in the central square of the village, full of hot thermal water. The Renaissance square was built precisely over the original hot spring, the same spring that the Romans also used.

Discover

Monticchiello is about 6 km from Pienza and is located on a hillock, which, due to its particular height, is surrounded by a spectacular view of the Val d’Orcia. Impossible not to visit the Borgo. The visit will not take too long and is really worth it. Monticchiello has medieval origins and is still enclosed within the ancient walls that, although partly crumbling, retain some defensive towers. Visiting the village, in addition to admiring the unique views of the Val d’Orcia, one certainly cannot forget to see the Cassero, of Sienese construction; the Pieve dei Santi Leonardo e Cristoforo, a Gothic-style church built in the second half of the 13th century that is also famous for the frescoes contained inside; and the Teatro Povero, which was created in about 1960 as a form of resistance to the economic crisis related to sharecropping.

Historical events

Monticchiello welcomes many tourists and others every year, who come to watch the theatrical performances of the Teatro Povero known since the protagonists are precisely the inhabitants of the village.
